Title: Car riding alot firmer
Post by: geoffr70 on 12 August 2010, 00:54:37
Hello, in the last month or so I've replaced wishbones, drop links, track rods, discs/pads, had tracking done. Anyway, the car seems to ride alot firmer. I don't know if it's me, the car, the roads (probably!) or a combination of all three but the ride is alot firmer and bumpier than before. The bushes had had it on the old w/bones, although MOT tester didn't spot it, granted the new ones are firmer but to be honest I prefer it before and wish I'd left the old ones on. I thought these cars are suppose to be comfortable, I'd just bonded with it and now this! Any ideas? All torqued up correctly, tyres inflated etc etc.

A failing shocker might cause this if it is siezing - its is not unknown because one of mine did exactly that.
The thing is with the wishbones is that the mounting bolts in the bushes should only torqued tight when the weight of the car is on them and it is level. Tightening the bolts before then will result in the effects you now have and will soon destroy the rubber bushes if it has not done already. Maybe the old ones had failed for the same reason! They were not installed correctly.
The MIG is a funny beast and a lot different to many others. Remember that not all 'mechanics' know what they are doing and that a job worth doing is worth doing right. That goes for stealer dealers too.
If you cannot do it yourself use one of the oofers who will visit you. I do!

I had the exact same parts except the track rods done on my car.
The ride was more positive but not bumpy or firmer.
I have driven a few omaga's & they were all comfortable, not bumpy, as you say thats how there meant to be.
Did you use genuine GM parts?
