the prefix "R"prior to a part No signify,s they need yours in exchange. i,d try to source one off breakers yard. a lot cheaper option. :y

Doesn't this option run the risk of you fitting one which is no better than the one you're taking off?

Hi, a couple of months ago I got one from ACR in Surrey for £ 152 incl VAT. now fitted and fully working.

Be very wary about this! I have just had mine changed and the part number was 1135106, there was no R on the sticker.
The difference is in the mountings and as they are an integral part of the compressor casing and cannot be adapted between models it is vital you get the correct one.
Use a mirror and light and you should be just about able to see the sticker that has the part number on it. If not ring your VX dealership parts dept and give them your car reg number and they can then tell you, if they are any good at all, which one is the correct one for your car.
If you get a second hand one make sure that the pulley can spin freely with no drag from the front clutch and that the front seal is not leaking. Then check that the clutch works by putting 12v across it. Use a banknote checker or UV light to see the stain.
Wishing you luck

Give acr a ring ,very friendly and made sure I got the right one. I cheated by having it fitted by my local garage for £ 110. Easier done on a ramp as I was told. Oh yes and £40 for the re-gass

My advice - don't bother with second hand. I tried 2 on my Calibra, both useless and you don't find out until you've shelled out for a gas refill. It's a false economy - buy new.

I have one here (still attached to the engine) which I know 100% works excellently. I have a receipt for it from 2008. £60 inc postage to Beford.
The only thing is, I'll need to know by this evening unfortunately, as the car will be cubed tomorrow. :'(
