Title: tyre size

hi guys
ive managed to get myself a set of 18" irmscher alloys
theyve currentky got 255/40/18 on them
i was wondering is this the right size tyre for these alloys
any help/info would be appreciated

My 18" Irmscher Sportstars have Goodyear Eagle F1  235/ 40 these tyres have a good rim protector and seem to be doing OK hope this info helps

Believe 225 is ok too, do the 255 rub?

ok thanks for the replies guys
but must admit  im a bit confused
the first part of the tyre size ie the 3 digit number is the width of the tyre so surely their should be one recomended size
so far the answers are ranging from 225 upto 245 and ive currently got 255 on them

255 are fine mate, thats what i had on the rears of mine...  but i went to even more extremes and got 285/35/18 fitted,

i don't have any issues..  apart from the amount if grip...  lol
