Title: engine swap
Post by: Bumbazor on 16 August 2010, 15:10:22
I've done a few searches but have not found anything.

Is there a guide on here that explains the procedures involved with an engine swap? I have the Haynes guide but I didn't know if there was anything they don't mention.

To be honest, guide not needed.  Just methodically pull off the bits that need to come off.

Having done it both ways on a 2.5TD lump, I would take gearbox out with engine...

Is it better for me to take it out with gearbox attached to my V6?
I've heard that it could be difficult to rotate the crank in seized engines to allow removal of engine only.

If it's seized as badly as the one that came out of DLK's Obi the words you're looking for are damn near impossible mate.
Three foot breaker bar on the crank and it wouldn't budge at all.
