Title: Omega 2.5 Auto Gearbox Slipping.
Post by: marcbucks on 28 August 2010, 19:25:12
Hi Again All,
I have a T,99, 2.5 V6 Omega (Auto)
Dropping friends of this morning and then driving home the gears started slipping. It didn't pull away straight off and engaged one of the higher gears at 4000rpm then a mixture of slipping up and down the gears. Even putting into the preselected gears R,1,2,3 it jumped about and jumped into Neutral quite often.
I also noticed some leaking oil near the car purely because it was raining.
Have something come off or broken the underneath of the gearbox and the gearbox fluid has gone or is it something simple.
Oh getting NO engine management light or any fault codes with the paperclip test.
Many Thanks,
Roundabout Marc

Hi. First port of call with gearbox weirdness is to check the oil level. No dipstick. It is done via a bung on the RH side (under the drivers side UK). There is a guide in the maintenance section.

Second port of call is to do an oil and filter change. About every 80k miles. less if thrashed or towing stuff. Again excellent guides in maintenance section and eals on oil and filter, gaskets at head of section.

Hope that helps.
