Morning guys
I have a 1998 omega 25 v6 as fitted with the servotronic steering as every 25 and 30 lites has, it helps you park and handles at speed, well i have a problem the car will not steer to the left, you have to pull it to get their, ok right, checked all the bits underneath, supension etc, fine, checked that bloody fuse, in fact change it as well, fine, now then im told that their is a modulater somewhere under the dash ???? that controls this :-/
As anyone see one or change one or has one for sale along with a rear bumper skin in polar sea blue for a preface lift estate as used on the old style elites :y
Cheers guys :y :y

Servotronic control unit behind footwell panelling. Looks just like a relay.

On my 99 CDX the servo tronic relay was up behind the glovebox and air bag(did not remove the air bag)in a small cluster of other relays, it's about an inch square by inch and a half tall and is red, most of the others where grey iirc.
Parts dept will print out the location from epc if you pester them.
Suggest maybe remove the relay and drive the car, if it's still uneven, then mechanical, but it will be much stiffer to steer obviously.
Power steering pump is also a good possibility though when my servo tronic failed it was a totally random thing, working one second not the next, it never caused the one sided symptom you describe. So don't just pile in and buy a relay, they are £90, although a braker will surely have one if they are all the same part number?

Hi guys
Thanks for coming back, ok so its the size of a relay, nothing major then, right i'll disconnect and see how it goes first, thanks again guys all the best :y :y :y

You're probably right on this. Tis shows a diagram of it being there, but talks about removing the footwell panel. :y

If the car won't steer to the left it sounds like more then just the modulator, but maybe I've misunderstood.
All the modulator and the accompanying ECU do is to control the fluid pressure in the steering box based on road speed.
If you have a tight spot in the steering or it's jamming I'd suggest it's a mechanical problem with the steering box itself.

I had a brand new Elite back in 98 that did this after a few months; this was due to a faulty steering pump. Sometimes it would lose the powered steer totally. I hope this helps.
