Title: Omega back up car?
Post by: Varche on 11 January 2008, 13:28:18
For barely more than the price of a tankful of petrol the discerning Omega Owner could consider a Tata Nano. Mind you not the base model but the luxury version( gears, heater, seats, wipers, window winders, towbar, twin electrics etc). Prices not available yet but will be about £1500. Very useful for all those days the car is off the road with the normal problems (DIS pack, HBV, gearbox, oil cooler, wishbones, drop links, stripped drain plugs, ABS ECU's, manifolds, cam cover gaskets, breathers, rads, etc etc). No more rushing to get it back on the road for work the next day.

If there is enough interest then we could maybe bulk buy through OOF?

Tunnie - I won't put you down then for driver for the OOF convoy back from India in March - It would be nice and sunny then. We will need two per car to get back in a week of continuous driving.

By the way I think that photo is just the base model not the luxury job! With aftermarket 17 in alloy wheels and some Irmsher kit it would soon look the part. ;D

I'd buy one for that money...I'd keep it in my shed or tuck it away in my airing cupboard for emergencies.  ::)

Bloody good idea I think...but I'm not buying one until I read more about them...ie how well they can withstand a crash.

It should just fit in the spare wheel well of an Omega estate......

Blimey, you're hopeful!   I don't think it would go fast enough to crash.  Anyway, I just heard there's a cabriolet version - half the car for half the price........ ::)

The crap CityRover was a rebadged Tata. Cost Rover about £3k, they sold for stupid money.

Tata are soon to be the proud owners of Landrover and Jaguar, though looks like there may be some deal between Tata and Fiat over Jag
