As per the other thread, and many other threads in the past, I am contemplating a tyre thread, based on YOUR experince on YOUR omega only....
Thinking about some questions like
Answer 1-5
You
Forum Name :
Your Driving Style (1 = Miss Daisy, 5 = Shumaker)
Your main driving (Motorway, Urban, A Roads, B Roads)
Car the tyre fitted to (3.2 MV6 Estate etc)
1 = Poor, 5 = Excellent
Tyre :
Grip Dry
Grip Wet
Longevity
Noise
Tramlining
Price per tyre
comments (10 words max)
anything else?
I guess to manage this, and avoid chat getting in the way, questions could be answerd in a test zone thread, and I could then add them to a table in FAQ.
Not saying we are going to do this, just thinking about the options.
Any further ideas / comments?

imo good idea..
only drawback is our opinions will be personal..
no chance to make an actual comparison like tyre tests..however will still give hints..

Indeed, sounds like a very good idea, but as Cem states the opinions will always be personal and may lack some objectivity ;) ;)

I like the idea but the big problem is car condition, ie is your tramlining the tyre or some worn suspension component.

that works the other way too, tyres can make the car feel like it has a hinge in the middle, making the owner change parts that dont need changing in thefirm belief that tyres could never have such a poor affect on a car.
They most certainly can, trust me.
But a valid point re car up keep non the less.
Tyre input missing on the handeling thread btw.... ::)
Also, would not want this to mean admin cant come out to play more, there is enough other stuff going to worry about afaict.

While fitting new brake disks on a Sunday a few months ago I discovered I needed new tyres. :( they were down to the canvas :( :(
I managed to find a place open with a pair of 235/45R17 tyres in stock but they were a make unknown to me Event Tyres (http://www.eventtyres.com/)
Due to my suspicion that my camber needed adjusting (I later measured it as being -2deg40) I decided to get them fitted anyway and drive carefully until I could get to WIM (I haven't got there yet..)
To my great surprise for £120 per pair (fitted & balanced) I got a remarkably good pair of tyres.

Looking at the tread pattern of those Event tyres they look to me to be the previous models of the Dunlop range :y

The only prob i can see is that i need a higher number here
Your Driving Style (1 = Miss Daisy, 5 = schumacher)
