Title: temperature varies while driving ??
Post by: Fazeel on 19 September 2010, 18:30:53
i dunno if this is normal or not ( which is why in asking this ;D ) but does the temperature change depending on how one is driving the omega ??

well mine does, if im driving normal ( slow ) it stays below or on 90
but if im driving fast at high rpm then it shoots up between 95 and 100 !!

reason in asking this is that ive tried this in my dads volkswagon at it has completely no effect on the temperature, the needle doesnt budge, same is the case in my brothers chevrolet lumina
So why in my omega ??

is it because they are a little newer models or is it specifically my omega ??

oh and both of their cars have 6 gears, so maybe the omega has to exert more power or something ?? ( wonder if that has anything to do with the temperature rising and falling ?? ;D )

I can drive like a Nun or drive like a complete lunatic, and my temp needle stays fixed.

It's only when sat in very heavy traffic does my temp gauge rise.

if you are hammering the car when climbing the hills there is no way the temp remains constant..

(although some other cars remains constant :-?)

Don't do anything this is completely normal on a mig.
If you go long way downhill it is completely normal for the temp to fall. If you press the engine the temp will go up.
Some cars do have a temp gauge fixed at around 90 degrees like volkswagen, skoda or bmw but not  omega.
You only have a problem if the temp is low constantly on a normal road and constant speed (thermostat in this case is stuck open).
Flushing the rad isn't a bad idea but no need to do it if it is not dirty
