Title: stailling omega
Post by: blue_dream on 23 September 2010, 14:21:56
Morning guys
Have been asked by a friend of a friend to have a look at his 1998 25 v6, car will start but not hold idle, ok checked and cleaned idea valve, no good, replace with a know good one mine, still no good, checked air mass and swapped, still no good.
Checked the fault codes which shows cranksencer fault not to sure if old fault, but i thought car would not start if fault cranksencer was at fault  :-? :-?
Any ideas guys before we start wasting money  :y

Do the basics first......check for air leaks (pay attention to the brake servo hose)

Also worth blanking the EGR to rule that out.

Ideally clear the codes and see if the code returns, then you know it's current, but obviously a code reader capable of clearing codes is needed, which may cost at a garage if you don't have one.

20 to 30 starts of the engine should clear the code if it is an old one. :y
