I diconnected the MAF sensor before last MOT retest to see if it would drop CO emissions. It actually doubled the CO content. I knew doing this would generate a fault Code 73 "Mass Air Flow Sensor Voltage Low" and it did.
I've reconnected the MAF plug & today reset the ECU (disconnected battery negative lead for 2 hours) to get rid of the fault code. Re-checked for codes & Code 73 still present? Does this indicate that my MAF sensor is faulty?? Also would Code 73 flash up if there's an air intake problem as opposed to sensor fault? thanks :y

Disconnecting battery will do precisely bugger all (except make you reset windows and enter radio code).
You need a code reader to quickly clear codes...

Achieves less than the square root of nothing. The only way faults can be removed from stored memory are :
1) Reset by external device (tech 2 or other)
2a) On some faults - removing fault condition
2b) On some faults 2a + 20 or so "clean starts"
Disconnecting the battery will not clear faults at any time.
EDIT : Must type faster .. :(

Thanks guy's, was surprised by the engine management light still remaining lit, briefly after starting, eventhough MAF plug reconnected?
2a) On some faults - removing fault condition
but realise it might be a case of:
2b) On some faults 2a + 20 or so "clean starts"
:y
After replacing crankshaft sensor, Code 19 (that was showing with the engine running) just disappeared :y

Had my battery disconnected as engine was rebuilt - long story on another posting. Can't get radio on (SAFE mode) and don't have passcard with radio code - neither do previous owners. Any idea how I can get the right code?
Also noticed passenger windows have lost one-touch function - have to keep finger on the button - again - any ideas??
Thanks.

One touch covered in the how too section and as for the radio code try a PM to Dave DND in the electrical section :y
