Hey guys, my boot opening mechanism seems to have just failed. I press unlock on the keys and the doors open fine but the boot remains fully locked. Also the sound of the car unlocking is not as loud so i guess thats because one of the motors ie the boot one is not working anymore. Could this be a simple case of cleaning it and regreasing or a fuse or would likely be a replacement? thanks for any comments

seen this before where the wire entering the boot perishes over time.
Open the boot using the internal pull handle (after dropping the seat / using hatch) then inspect and repair the wires.
-
If such thing happened on an estate what would you do? there is no mechanism to open it from inside... :D
-
I can open the boot using the key as its mini facelift, so ok, im looking for some wire wrapped in black plastic or rubber, now which side of the boot should they be on as i stand at the rear bumper facing forwards? thanks
-
iirc its the passenger side corner, rubber 'corregated tube' from memory containing the wiring.

oK great, thanks Jimbob, so thats my first port of call, now if the wires seem good could it be a fuse or the motor that controls the lock ?

Have you got the key slot on the boot handle in the correct position for remote unlocking :question
-
I dont know, what position is that supposed to be, it was working perfectly afew days ago and then suddenly it wouldnt open, so i used the key to open it,
-
Can`t remember now but it`ll only lock/unlock with the remote in one position. Try with the keyhole vertical as well as horizontal. If neither works it`s as said either motor or chaffed cabling

ok thanks, is there a fuse i can check as well?
