Is it only the water pump leaking?

Sorry thought it was just the water pump you were wanting to replace.

yes its a bit confusing , the mechanic is not sure what needs replacing until the he has taken the car apart probably head gasket etc...but he is definately replacing the water pump and water tank ...any other parts i will try to get hold of as he tells me they are needed :)

Please wait a min before you go spending loads of cash on every part that he thinks it is ............. as I would first just replace the water tank and see if that is what the cause was first as suggested on here by others in the no

Based on your earlier thread I'd say that - assuming you never let the car overheat or boil dry - could well be your only problem, and you'd be wise to replace that and see if the problem goes away, before buying any other parts and having any other work done to the car..

seriously you need somebody to look at this that knows these cars.  You could very easily replace a HG when it does not need it.

I don't  claim to be an expert here but am willing to pop up to leicester to have a look for you.  PM me if you interested

oh dear i'm getting very confused lol...the mechanic is a good friend so i know he will not be having me on but he does not know whats wrong with it... he seems to think the water tank cracked due to the pressure (there was a lot of steam under the bonnet.. I think (although i only just know how to open the bonnet lol) that there has been a problem for a while ( heaters not working, ocasional overheating) and it has caused the high pressure that cracked the tank last week when my car became juddery and undrivable (lots of steam) so hopefully if he replaces the water pump and tank it should be ok (fingers crossed ) although he is suggesting headgasket I feel very silly as a girl who knows nothing about cars questioning a mechanic :-/

Didn't wellung666 (Lee) offer to come & have a look at the weekend? What this guy doesn't know about Omegas probably isn't worth knowing & he is Ultra Reliable & Trustworthy! Give him a PM & see when he is free to come to you :y

Advice already given - lots! Don't spend a bean until you get one of the guys who know these cars to have a look, doesn't matter how good a friend this mechanic is. I use an indy garage for stuff that I cannot do, trust them 100% but they still charged me £600 (about half of what it should have been) for trying to solve a problem with my old Elite. Darth Loo-Knee spends 10 minutes on it and does more real good than they managed in 5 weeks!  ;)
