Bu**ers!!.....this is becoming such a common thing now in some areas >:( Makes you wonder if it's worthwhile having a decent looking car these days - maybe we should all have armoured personell carriers instead and see if the little fu**ers can key them!! ::)

Happened to me a few weeks ago. Parked the car and went into the office, came back 10 minutes later someone had reversed into the corner of the bumper. All I can wish for is that one day it will happen to their pride and joy. I know how you feel Belfastowl :'(

Accidents do happen its the fact that whoever hit my car drove off without leaving their details or even so much as a sorry.

This is exactly the problem. How do kids get disciplined - parents, school teachers, police etc etc aren't allowed to touch them, and so many kids have cottoned on to this so they don't give a sh*t about anyone or anything. Another couple of decades and we will have complete anarchy in this country and I for one hope I won't be around to see it :(

I don't want to sound too old fashioned but when I was a kid, if I misbehaved my old man would give me a good hiding. I might not have liked it at the time, but it taught me a lesson and respect. As a result I don't think I turned out too bad - at least I like to think I'm honest and respectful. I brought both my sons up in a similar fashion (at least until I spilt up with Mrs bob.dent) and they have both turned out to be good kids.

Am I just getting old and cynical? :-/

I make sure our boy is well disciplined. He must have respect for other peoples property. Even now at 2 yrs old, if he damages something on purpose during a tantrum or moment of defiance, he's dealt with un no uncertain terms and his privileges are whittled down. It's a painful thing to do at times, and occassionaly I feel like I'm going over the top a bit, but I'm damned if I'm going to raise a brat or a ned!!

A few weeks ago, I was in a car park and a bunch of Chavs were getting into their clapped out heap of a car. It was parked next to an 'R' plate Ford Escort, which while not the most desirable car in the world, it was in pristine condition. One of the Chav Bint's opened the rear door of the Chavmobile and hit the Escort, upon which she let out an exclaimation. She then casually sat in the back seat of the car and lit up a roll-up.

So I saunters over and said, " I hope you're going to leave your contact details so that you can pay for the damage to the car!", to which she said, "A didnae touch it!!", I then said, "Yes you did, there's a dent in the back wing with the same colour paint as your car where you hit it with the door!". She said, "Och that's nuthin' ye kin haurdly see it!", so I left her with, "I hope you do the decent thing!".

I wish I taken their number 'cos somewhat predictably, they left without leaving a note!

What a bunch of ballbags!!!  >:(

Some people may have just not even noticed they had done it - you do get people who don't care but you also get people who don't even realise.

Not excusing - just that some people don't even know they did it

I have a question which is slightly related to this thread, well sort of. Although my Omega is old I take good care of it and if I have to go the the super market I am one of those people who parks where there are no other cars parked so theres less chance of getting the old girl damaged. Why is it that when I come out of the super market there is a car parked next to mine even though there are probably 10 empty spaces all around my car?

An ex-police driving instructor told me once to always park your car beside either expensive, new or well looked after cars. There's less chance of yours being damaged then!!  ;)

Vandalising cars is a popular pastime with lowlifes, especially when they've had a couple of pints or a fix of whatever gets them off their stupid minds.
My daily driver MK4 Astra CDX Estate was immaculate untill I started parking it outside my girlfriends house at the weekend. Her place backs on to a main road in between a big pub and a curry house so we have the pleasure of drunken scumbags passing the house every night, including the irate ones who have just been refused service at the Indian.
I have had three door mirrors ripped off ,drivers side window smashed in an attempted theft ,front and rear wipers nicked and every side panel has been keyed. I've had a half eaten kebab stuffed up the tailpipe (yeah,I know, funny when it's not your car) and my paintwork has been damaged by acidy vomit.
My girlfriend's Alfa 156 has a dented bonnet and wing from some t*at dancing on it plus multiple scratches.
But my prize for sub-human of the century,(at least so far),must go to the moron who stole my mint condition 1983 MK2 Carlton off the drive one night in June. It needed a new waterpump( which arrived the next day, ironically) so there was very little coolant in the system. The thieving mother f*cker abandoned the car at a set of lights about five miles away after the engine seized solid.
The car was declared beyond economical repair by my insurance company,of course, and they valued it at £200 pre theft! Taking the piss,or what?
I have told them that as soon as they find me another immaculate MK2 Carlton auto with 10 months MOT and 5 months tax for sale at £200, I'll gladly accept their offer!
M y girlfriends house is in one of the  most expensive areas of  south Manchester s, so the vandalism thing is not confined to sink estates.

One of the Autobahnstormers members had exactly the same problem when his mint Carlton GSI 24v was written off. His insurance offered him £200 too because they go according to the Glass' price guide.

He spent a bit of time collating a folder full of evidence supporting his claim that his car was worth a damn sight more that what they were offering adn challenged them as you did to find him one in the same condition for £200. He ultimately managed to get the Glass' guide to change their listing and settled for a £1300 pay out from his company AND he kept the car!!

Might be worth a shot at it yourself.

I usually park in child spots, but I tend to park either in an empty area or next to nice cars. That said I have had a few scrapes - had to polish off some a few days ago (no laquer damage)

That said - about 8 years ago - empty car park - us in a shop came out and a van was parked too close to our car (Carlton).

I got annoyed and rammed the right pasenger door open so I could get my daughter into her seat.

A few hundred spaces and only a couple of cars, why park so close to make entry difficult.

So inconsiderate and annoying.

Worst ever was a 9 inch gap between cars and I couldn't get anymore than my arm in to get window down got into netral and hand brake off to roll the car out of the spot.

The park lock would prevent this with current car. Oh and a lamp post blocked the passenger door
