Title: Touch up paint
Post by: albitz on 03 October 2010, 15:46:20
My cars paint code is Z147 Silver. I have seen touch up paint in L147 silver. Anyone know if they are the same colour. Is the letter significant ? :-/

I don't know enough about paint to really give advise but I would think if its the same the letter and numbers would be the same :-?

VX genuine touch up for petrol blue is an appalling match, got far better results having some mixed at Parrys (York). Silver might be OK as it is more forgiving but if not have it mixed.  :y

I would tend to agree with that. I bought some touch up from VX for my old Green Omega. It dried almost Black. I was seriously p155ed off about that at the time.
Mercedes are as bad. I had a similar experience with my green Merc this year. ::)

His pinkness can't fiddle with postcounts so you can abuse him with impunity. :y

No the letter doesn't make any difference. On the newer cars the Z means Metallic paint and a Y is a solid colour

Cheers

never seen a touch up paint matching the cars original color even from the same paint can ;D

reason is metallic paints give different results for spray painting and brush.. when I bough the clit , bonnet and front bumper was bad .. and painted..
few months ago when a big stone carve the paint, I use the same paint can (as it was left)  and result color was different more than 2 tones.. :-/
