Title: Pump of some kind in the offside front wing area?
Post by: aaronjb on 04 October 2010, 13:49:48
I noticed this a couple of times at the weekend while furgling with the stereo; occasionally (but not always) when I cycled the ignition off/on, I'd hear what sounds like a very poorly pump, fan or compressor of some kind in the offside front wing area..

Anything located in that area that could, when failing, make a kind of 'dugga dugga dugga dugga' noise on a 3.2 Elite? Self levelling pump?

'dugga dugga dugga dugga' ...  ;D It's impossible to describe noises, I know.. but imagine a really badly struggling compressor..

I still cant believe you did it twice ;D ;D ;D

Not to sure what it is but have a search for the winter pack seem to think that had something extra in that region could be completely wrong though :-?

Self levelling compressor under RHD side wing and SAI under left side wing (that was earlier cars only I suspect)

Oh how does the sound go again pls? ;D ;D ;D

Thanks guys - I suspect the prime candidate (given the 'dugga dugga dugga dugga' noise  :P ;D) is the self levelling compressor..

In case you didn't catch that, btw, that's 'dugga dugga dugga dugga' ..  ;D ;D

Ohh (epiphany moment) - when I heard the noise, I had 30Kg of toolbox and my Dad sitting in the boot (I don't keep him there all the time, you understand  ;D) so it was probably actually trying to 'self level' - which is why I don't hear it normally (when there's just me in the car)..

True, although based on the noise it was making, it might not be working (just trying to)

I'll have to play with the level sensor and see if it'll jack the car up like it's supposed to :)
