Is it difficult to change the shocks from air to gas as my air suspension pump has died, Any help would be great

No it isn't difficult. The shocks are held on by a large bolt at the bottom (might need some plus gas penetratiung oil) Inside the boot the top is held on by a 13 mm nut. You need to stop the "spindle" from turning using mole grips for e.g. And disconnect the air lines and clip safely out of the way. They have a wire safety clip to hold them in place.
This subject comes up a lot on the forum due to the original self levelling shocks only being VX items. Cheaper with trade club.
The springs on the elite are softer than other Omegas and the self levelling shocks match them. Perhaps the purists would say you need std springs and std shocks but people have just put std shocks on.
Another suggestion might be to buy a pump from a breaker on the forum.

thanks very much, if i don't change springs would it affect the ride and i'd actually like to have the air suspension working but finding an air suspension pump is next to impossible so that would be my first option but again i gotta find one :)

Whats the best way to tell if a car has self levelling suspension fitted. My car is a 2.5td estate cdx on 1994 (m). i have noticed it doesnt carry weight well at all so i'm now wondering if it has this set up and is fubarred??

Look and see if it has a 'dugga pump'.
Or have a look and see if there are any hoses going on to the suspension units.

will have to check for pipes at the back then cos despite the array of noises that my car makes, i cant say i've heard anything making a dugga dugga dugga sound ;D could anyone maybe suggest what a dugga dugga dugga sound might look like?
