hi all , i was just wondering if there is a way to reset the fault readings once youve fixed a problem , i e i have a faulty MAF sensor but during my investigations i unplugged both the EGR and MAF sensors , this causes a low voltage reading for both , i also have a high voltage for the MAF and all the other symptoms fit and an experienced mechanic has had a listen and suggested exactly what the fault codes are saying so its defo MAF (untill the code reader tells us different 2moz) ;D i now want to erase the low voltage codes for everything and then run the engine and get a fresh reading , is this possible without using the code reader ? pointless i know as the reader will be here 2moz but i'm an impatient git and wanna know if sooner if i can lol . any help appreciated as always .

If I'm not mistaken, 25 clean starts will clear old codes.

No, not really.
Some codes disappear the moment they are resolved, some disappaer after a predefined, variable number of clean starts, some never clear.

thats annoying lol i wanna go out and get the parts i need so i can get her back on the road asap hell its even stopped raining up her in sunny mancunian land , a perfect day to get under the bonnet and replace some parts . i think i may just bite the bullet and purchase the MAF and if it still runs like a bag of spanners then i'll just cry 8-) not lol

I've seen so many erroneous 73/74 codes, I would never replace a MAF on a 2.5/3.0 without doing a live data check.
Additionally, if it is the MAF, unplugging it should improve matters (still run rough, just not as rough)

well , i bit the bullet and bought the MAF but haven't fitted it yet , 74 quid with t :yhe vat , not too bad lol , put the code reader on it last night and the faults have all reset , guess the magical number of clean starts must have occured to do this . gonna run it today and then see if she pops again but i've now got a reader with me to get the fault code whilst its occuring . :y
