hi all
i have a bit of a problem again which is frustrating me almost to defeat.
A few months ago i had a misfire problem with my 3.0ltr miggy, this was traced to the disspack which i replaced and all was well.
However I now have what appears to be a similar problem. I thought that the disspack could have failed but after changing it twice with two new ones the problem is still there. I have also since changed the leads and plugs.
I have checked the spark on the leads and the number one lead seems to be weaker and not arcing like the other leads do.
When started and on tickover the enging appears to run without any real issue, add a few revs and it starts to judder and miss, and if i try driving it the judder and apparent misfire almost seems terminal, power loss and awful engine judder.
Is there anything else that could could cause these symptoms, its driving me barmy now, any advise would be gratefully appreciated.
Cheers all

Oh and to add to the above I have done a paper clip test and there are no fault codes showing.

And if you move No 1 plug and lead , swap with another, does the weak spark follow or does it remain on No 1 ?
-
hello kneepad... i tried that swapped over the leads and it was only on number one.

If you hav'nt already done so, fire it up in the dark,
pitch black, and get someone to rev it while you check under the bonnet for stray ign. sparks on and around dispack, leads and plugs.

I have taken of the number one lead while the engine is running and it definitely makes a difference to the engine as would be expected with taking off a lead. Is there anything electrical that could alter the output from the disspack or could there be a completely unrelated fault that would cause these kind of symptoms.

hello again all,
i have been browsing through the forum and came across this topic about missfire
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1285706807
It relates to the maf sensor and causing a missfire and the ignition lights going dim when the missfire occurs, this seems to happen with mine. Does anyone know if this is a normal fault and symptom. I am going to try and find the sensor and and unplug it to see if there is any difference.
-
Certainly won't do any arm to unplug the maf sensor. It's on the big air pipe coming from the air filter. If it runs better with the sensor unplugged then you have probably found the fault.

Why are the ignition lights on with the engine running? :-/

I think he meant dash lights, from reading the thread quoted. :y

Ahh, that sounds feasible. :y
