Title: Aux tensioner design?
Post by: star_whites on 05 October 2010, 22:28:58
Can anyone tell me if the aux belt tensioner for a 3.0 1999 omega is flat/smooth or if it has grooves in it. Mine has demolished itself but I have picked a replacement up this afternoon but it is smooth with no lips in it to keep belt in position. Looking at photos on line the omega has used both types!

Can anyone confirm if I have the right or wrong one?

I'm fairly sure the aux tensioner on my car was ribbed, maybe they have sent you a timing belt tensioner?

I would go for a grooved tensioner with a lip to match the grooved belt. Never seen or heard of a smooth one.

Mine's booby gravy.

The one on the OOF cambelt DVD is also groovy, and it looks about the same vintage as yours.  I would definitely be suspicious of your smooth one and get it double checked.

It should be grooved, the V6 only ever had the grooved type fitted  :y
