Well after stripping down my engine i discovered the loud knocking was a con rod bearing run out probs due to no oil so i can
1) put a whole set of bearings on it,
2)just put one bearing on it
3)scrap it and just get a second hand bottom end.
your thoughts?

Depends if all the other bearings are OK and if the crank is in good enough condition to escape a polish / re-grind, IMHO. I assume you mean the big end bearing rather than the little?

Hi fella, crank is not scored or marked will have to chech con rod face but i will check with the micrometer anyway, any ideas on how much a big end bearings is?

I'm just doing the same this weekend, but it's the second time :'( - tried to change just the bearing lasttime, but it went again.
I suspect actually that the root cause is cooling problems, but now it's crank out heads off again, so it serves me right for not "killing it stone-dead" last time.
for ease, I'd change the rod bearing, but if it returns, then just bin the bottom end and start with another.
