Post by: doug4293 on 04 October 2010, 03:21:16
my 3.0 elite rear shocks are gone, i wasnt sure if i have self leveling but think i have after reading this guide http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1208460516/0, can anyone give me advise on the benifit of putting the slef leveling shocks back in or just put the standard ones at £30 in ? also, anyone know the price of the self leveling ones, i also dont know if the self leveling system still works ? anyone know how to test it before i buy new shocks, bearing in mind the shocks in the car are completley worn out, thanks

I've fitted standard shocks to mine must be better than knackered self levelllers. But I had a spare set around.

If it helps, I've just replaced s/l shocks on my estate - £73.98 +vat each from VX on Trade Club.

Being an estate, I often have heavy stuff in, and I can't be doing with the car tipped up under load.

To test the self-levelling function, have a look here (estate again, but should help) ... http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1250308202

Cheers,

okay, so i popped off the self leveling sensor on under neath the rear driver side of the car and moved it manually to imitate weight being in the car and the car didnt rise or fall, i am trying to find out
A.the struts are shot therefore the car wont self level, or
B. mabey the struts are shot but is the rest of the self leveling system working ?
if the self level system works i would put them struts on it, but i dont want to buy expensive shockers pointlessley if rest of system isnt working,
i tried taking the air hose of the shocker but couldnt figure it out, got the retaining clip off and the plastic cover but the hose looks as though it goes into a piece that needs unscrewed ? didnt want to break it.
any one got any suggestions, on how to test the system ,or if the shocks are nackered would this stop the leveling system working, when the rear of the car is bounced up and down, i can hear the shock absorders making a kind of air sqooshing noise.
