possible "its had it" going by the water stains on it from when the hbv went 6 months ago. so hopefully can get sorted now tomorrow. what bolts are they and whats the best tool to remove it.
i'm sure there is a diagram of where the leads goon the plugs and pack, i cannot find, and i dont want to put them the wrong way round when i put back together once ive ripped me hands to shreads tomorrow

Easy job, Richie, but fiddly and time consuming.
where are you?
you will need a full set of "torx" sockets, from 6mm to 19mm, a dry place inside a garage, a load of cloth to block holes off with, and a half day to spare. Use a tipp-ex spot to mark the plug caps, and prepare for bruised knuckles and scratched hands.
Give me a pm and I'll talk you through it by phone if you need it.
Mike.

the plenum is off, holes are blocked and shrink wrapped, i'll take the scuttle off in morning and the cable trunking to get better access. i've a nice silver marker to do the leads.
any idea what size torx i need to get it off??

Sure the bolts holding the dispack in place are torx 8mm from memory.
Some are fitted vertical as were mine and I found the best method was a 1/4 drive short extension on a swivel connected to a long extension..it looked a bit of a contraption but did make access easier.
Most of the work is done by feel unless you are quadruple jointed but once scuttle is off and also suggest wiper motor aswell it is not too bad..just expect a few bruises and scuffs to the skin.
I twisted a selection of coloured wire loops onto the leads to identify which way they went back as found white tippex was very messy and difficult to see when had dirt on them.
Best of luck with it.

mine is 7mm torx socket, there are 4 bolts to feel for in the corners of the dispack, they WILL be tight and a bitch to feel for, if you have a "wibbly-wobbly" for your 3/8" drive it will be helpful.
The oval plug is easier removed before trying to get the dispack out, (it WILL be a b*tch to get out, bend the r/h engine mount over temporarily and it will come out upside down easily) and don't forget to spray the plug with carb cleaner before you fit it onto the new one as it will be mucky and won't seal on the new one otherwise.
TOP TIP.........put a blanket overthe whole engine when you are leaning over it, so if you drop something it wont go into the engine, or on the floor, put the blanket over the wings side to side, and cover the entire engine.
good luck mate!

Like the 'top tip' I lost a torx socket somewhere in the engine bay when it dropped off the extension when I was changing the DIS. I had blocked off all of the ports etc... so no worries there but it was one socket of a brand new set >:( >:( Still has not turned up!

like others say wipe off plenum stick some rags in
i dident bother with tipex etc as dis is numberd and its number marked on cam cover as well so want really and isue
i found the eayest way to undo torx bolts was with a flexable 1/4inch nut driver and tightly tape on the socket on the end with inserlation tape so it cant come off and you spend 3 looking for it in engine
or god forbit it gos down the inlet port if you forget rags or one rag slips
not that hard just a pain
