w-reg (2000) 2.5 saloon.
every time i start up the 1st message on the screen is
'Low Beam FLD/Vision'.
I assume this has something to do with the headlight beam?? Is there a way of resetting this or do i have to have the beam adjusted, MOT due next month so could do with it being correct if this is the prob.
Cheers

I've recently had exactly the same thing. It's to do with the self levelling system of your HID headlights. Could be faulty sensor on front or rear suspension or one of the levelling motors on the headlights. Mine turned out to be a broken sensor on the front wishbone. I'm pretty sure it's an MOT failure if you don't get it fixed. :-/

It will only be an MOT failure if the aim is out!!! :)

usually, the darn connecting arm just pops off!! have a look under the left hand (passenger side) wheel arch, and on the wishbone arm you will see a little sensor with an arm connecting it. if its off, pop it on. The rear l/h wheel has one under it too, check that one. if BOTH arms are on, change the front sensor, about £5 to £10 secondhand, easily obtained.

I've had ths fault for the last 18 months and it passed the mot ok... my fault is the leveling sensor behind the headlight and would love to know if this is an easy fix or not?

like Sixstring said its often there when sume spaner mokey left/knocked off doing pads
had same with mine

Right, with regard to MOT.
If its one of the sensors (invariably the front one), the system will point both headlights down low if it can, as it is unable to ascertain how high they should be, so it plays ultra safe. ITS LIKELY THIS WILL FAIL MOT due to low aim
If its one of the servos, the ECU will still control the working one, but will try to lower the faulty one (though often they seize in this scenario). Depending on where it was pointing when it seized (if it did), it will either pass or fail due to aim.
Sensors are normally around £20 ish, give or take, second hand. Stupid money new. Be aware, there are 2 different types of connector.

I hit a mahoosive pothole recently with the front n/s , immediately got this message. Removed wheel and found the small bolt that attaches the sensor arm to the wishbone was missing. New bolt and all working again.
