Title: Cheapo HIDS
Post by: Chopsdad on 12 January 2008, 22:56:04
For those of us without HIDS I've always recommended Osram SilverStars - £10 a pair.  They give 50% more light and work really well.

Until this week, when one blew. :(

So I've just ordered their big shiney new version the Nightbreaker - offering 90% more light and 10% whiter for £16.50 inc P&P

I'll take some pics and let you know if they're any good.

And yes........they are legal across europe  :y

Blue bulbs are rubbish though, not only do they make you look like a chav trying to impersonate HIDs (badly I may add), they also produce less light than normal bulbs, due to the filter that makes them blue!

Stick to normal white bulbs if you're not fortunate enough to have real HIDs. Stuff like the SilverStars are good, I've been impressed with them when I had a car that used halogens. :y
