why you taking it out ?

removing and replacing is not a problem - whereas changing bearings or building into a new casing is. That's when you need to be shimming it properly

Hi
I'd be interested in this answer too, although mine is moving a Carlton LSD into an Omega casing.

Depends on the market, but i have 2.2 automatic with lsd.
It was common to have those in Finland and in Scandinavia in general.
Helps a bit on the snow. :) Don't know about the UK versions if they have it or not.

in the UK, no Omega B's had LSD as standard.

Police cars often (but not always) had them retrofitted by MSD before delivery

and I suspect it was available as a very special option on a new car, but have never seen one.

your diesel crownwheel will fit the Senator diff carrier.

your driveshafts will fit into the Senator diff internals ( provided it's not off a Senator A )

the pre-load and half of the mesh is determined by the thickness of the circlips - they're selective. Get'em wrong and it'll howl enough to wake the dead, before coming through the diff casing.

senator B diff i think? wud the part number on the crown wheel tell me if it was of a senator a, or is my best option to pop a shaft of and try it,
i had a suspision it was the thinckness of the circlips that sets preload as i didnt see any shims when i removed it,
so what should the preload be? i know how to blue die the crown wheel to check the back lash but how do i adjust it if i find she aint showing properly on the crown wheel?

backlash is changed by fitting thicker circlip at one side and thinner one at the other and vice versa.

pre-load is changed by fitting thicker or thinner circlip to just one side.

Senator A diff is completely different - no rubber propshaft coupling and a bolt-on flange for the driveshafts.

the full instructions are in TiS somewhere

I have Omega B 2.0 X20XEV automatic transmission. I got LSD diff (probably from Omega A, "big", with 1:3.9) I don't know, is it "big" or "small", and also I don't know, what diff is on my Omega now ("small", with 1:3.9 ratio?) Here are some pics from LSD diff:

Can You suggest, what "donor" diff I have to find for LSD housing on Omega B and what are the routine tasks for me, when changing diff (adjustments, may be some elements change)?
Thanx in advance!
