Title: Boot Lock / Locked out
Post by: Densum on 17 October 2010, 17:25:13
:-/   Hi Guys,  I have a V reg Omega 2.5 TD. The one with the BMW engine. when I bought it there was only one key. and it opened all locks including the boot from the fob .But but if I wanted to use it mechanically by hand it would only open and lock the passenger doors. not the boot. if   I    put the key in the boot it would not turn at all.
NOW my problem is the boot has fail to open with the fob but all door are OK.  So could someone please tell me if their is a way to get it open without damaging it. I have read on the forum hear that somebody with a similar prob used a mini facelift key but I don't know what those are. also someone said that their car had an emergency release cable behind the seat but they didn't mention the model and I cant see anything obvious on mine. So I would be very grateful for any suggestions Thanks from Densum.

if its a facelift model they have a cacth in the boot to open them if you pull the seats down and just look in the boot its on the underside of the lid.

He mentions a boot lock which to me means it is a pre-facelift, so may not have the emergency boot release inside the lid ;) ;)

OP has a prefacelift by the sound of it if there is a keylock on the boot ? I don't know if the opening toggle is there on the earlier cars, but well worth having a look  :y

Toggle handle is only on the facelift models. Unfortunately the only way to unlock the boot is by taking the inner lining off the bottom half of the bootlid and actuating the motor by hand. This then means the boot is unlocked and will stay that way. I have a boot lock motor here if you need it to replace the broken one Densum :y

On occation, my boot door (early type) does not open/unlock with the rest of the locks using the fob. As the key didn't work either I gave it a bit of a bang with my hand over the lock area and hey presto! it opened. It has done it a few times since and I have had to resort to this method only once or twice. The other times, a few cycles with the fob cleared it. With mine it seems to be something sticking, I will be investigating at some time, armed with some oil.
