Title: Removing Door Wiring harness
Post by: JezInBrum on 18 October 2010, 19:36:00
Hello, would appreciate a bit of advice.
Due to the standard vauxhall fitted to the doors I am in the process of fitting some i picked up on fleabay.
Only problem is the person selling them cut off a number of pligs off the end of wires rather than spending a little more time finding the terminal blocks.
I have decided to swap over the wiring looms. I mave managed to unplug everything but am unsure how to get the large circular block out of the door shell without damaging it. Has anyone sucessfully done it and could assist me please?
Thanks, Jez

Front or back door. front unclips from inside not difficult, back is just a rubber grommet I think.

Will be both front and back. Any tips on what to do. Fumbling about it feels like there is a rubber boot over the connector inside the door shell. Visability is not too good due to a window runner being in the way.

Front disconnects from door by twisting connector on door. Rear pull the grommet from body at b post the connector is just inside.

Jez are you trying to remove the fixed plug in the door? I have some pics for when I was trying to explain to Josh how they came out if needed :y

The front door wiring looms are held in with three little clips around the edge of the circular wiring connector, you access them from inside the door space, once door cards are removed.
I have the looms from all four doors for sale, maybe you could solder on new connectors to save stripping the loom...£7.50 each or make me an offer on the set!

Chers Wellung, Brikhead. I managed to find the lugs. I was also surprised the way the oom was fed in from outside rather than inside. One pain is how the Side Impact sensors are mounted to a massive plate which blocks most access to the insid of the door shell. Shall have to dig out the rivet gun now, but least it will make the rest of the doors easier to do.
Thank you for the help
