Dropped it off at 9am, collected 10.30am with a nice new cert, no advisories (same as last year) :)
Not bad for a 175,000 mile, 9.5 year old barge 8-)

This guy is pretty good, been taking my cars there for a few years now. I had an issue with my BMW last time, the horn wasn't working. It's mounted at the bottom of the car just behind the front bumper, so it can get caught on speed bumps which either rips the wiring off or wrecks the horns themselves. Already replaced them once -- this time thankfully it was just the wiring plug had been pulled off. I explained this to him, and he helped me reconnect it and passed it. No hassle, no extra charge.
It probably helps that he's a biker and I always chat to him about the latest bike he has stored in the garage. He gets a new gixxer thou every year, this time he had a 2007 gixxer plus a cbr-1000rr race bike :o. Must be good money in this MOT business ::)

a class mercedes 53 plate 2days ago, broken o/s front coil spring and spring platform. broken end of spring had rubbed inside of the tyre and tyre was about to blow!! the women owner is a care worker and does a lot of motorway work! she mentioned she had heard a squeak!! all MOT testers ride bikes too! its a common thing :y you get to know that most cars have a common weak point from minis to a porsche regarding MOTs!

:y nice one Paul.
My experience of testers has always been good, if my cars fails it is normally for something i couldn't check for one reason or another.
i like to keep on top of what needs doing on the car, that said i have seen some real death traps on the road, some of them were when i was doing the training for MOT computerisation, some of it made my toes curl

Where about in Edinburgh is this MOT garage Paul?
It wasn't in Edinburgh, I was down visiting my folks on the west coast at the weekend so took it there on Saturday morning as I've been there a few times and had good service.
I've never actually had any of my cars MOTd in Edinburgh :o. I'm always wary of using new garages until I've had some personal recommendations, hence why I haven't used any in Edinburgh yet.

There's one in Tolcross, Edinburgh that I use regularly. Very fair and never let me down yet. :y
