Title: Power steering problems
Post by: MV6Man on 10 October 2010, 06:56:12
I have some problems with it, not working all the time...

Could it be that Servotronic relay, or is the pump faulty.
When working properly, steering is easy at low speeds, and it goes heavy when more speed.
Sometimes itīs like there is no power steering at all.

Think that fluid change might do something but what do you think of this.

Servo tronic relay failure on mine was a very random thing, where as pas pump ware seems to show at lower engine speeds I think it's safe to say, never had a pas pump issue personally but have seen others ...

If its only at low revs when it seems to fail, thats often the pump is worn

Iīll give some revs when this thing happens next time.
If nothing happens it could be that relay then whatīs bugging.

Faulty relay was the reason for this problem.

Some what easier & cleaner to swap than a pump!  ;)  ;)   :y

First try the cheapest, replace fluid, Dexron 2 for power steering, it can make the difference. Servotronic relay is located up behind the 'glove box' - real pain. Replacement pump Ģ100 + , it may be the way to go if the new fluid fails.
