Issue is on a 3.2
When started from cold and in 'Park' the idle is smooth and fine.
When put in R or D a judder becomes present, it feels and sounds like a missfire but no emissions light or EML (both bulbs present and working). When put back into P it's fine again. The vehicle hasn't been run up to temperature to see if that makes any difference. There is a 'swooshing' noise, similiar to the sound of an aux belt that's wet present, although the aux belt is fine. There appears to be some minor oil residue at the bottom of the pulleys, although only a small amount. This 'swooshing' noise seems to be coming from under the plenum behind the bagpipes area. Oil leaking and affecting the cambelt?
The vehicle is not driven, as I thought this could end up causing plenty of damage.
Any ideas welcomed :y

gearbox fault, lack of ATF etc?
-
I suppose it could be AT related. But, to me it does seem engine related. I think I'm going to have to try and get to the cambelt and have a look.

Josh,
I'm off on hol's this weekend, but if you could wait a week or two, I could bring down my code reader (basic one I know), but may help you out before you go tearing parts of the engine to see if you can find problem, as if there's a code, it may help find the problem :-? :y

That's got to be the box, Josh. I just can't see how any engine fault would cause that to happen.

yep.. if the engine works ok with the autobox in N or P position, must be box related..
-
box ..... i recall there was a spate of people changing thrust washers and filter+fluid a couple of years ago to revive an ailing box...

On first reading, by judder, I was thinking miss fire type judder from the engine, does the lump jump around sideways in drive? But on reading other posts, judder could well be intermittent drive, and therefor box related, ESP with no codes via pedal trick or whatever. :(
Ps, can you tell? I've not had this problem :-/

JoshWyatt has access to the real McCoy just down the road from where he lives. One of the (few!) advantages of living near Brackley ;D
