I wonder if any1 can give me advise as my 3l elite has just failed it's mot on the co2 emmissions it got to 0.24 iv had it serviced , new plugs, filter etc not so long back and a full service, they put some cleaner fluid in it to see if would get it down so I took it rind the block a couple of times and we tried it again but didn't bring it down enough any 1 got any advice as they said take the car out 30 mins b4 and bring it straight in an they would try again does anyone have any other tricks to drop it that .04 cheers ::)

Doing an oil change won't hurt, depending on how long ago "not so long back" means. Also cleaning out the breather system can only help matters.
Longish motorway thrash immediately prior to retest highly advised.
It's CO, not CO2 that the MOT measures by the way.

As already said clean the breathers. When was the air filter last changed? Is it an aftermarket air filter? K&N oil bath filters can raise the CO, so can not having a filter fitted. Was it fully hot when they tested it?
-
try giving it a good hard run to clear some carbon, only other thing is lambda sensor/throttle body clean maybe? breather pipes?
-
Had full service at 93,215 miles bout 6month ago Anna my mileage is 99,671 now but the giving it a good blast down the motorway sounds good along as those guys who have pimped there cars with blue flashing lights aren't about cheers any way ;)

It had a NFL lambda sensor fitted 28 may 2009
-
Soz predictive txt meant ngk lambda sensor ;D
-
Breather pipes seemed fine as darth loo knee looked at them bout 2 months ago unless it's running abit rich but don't know the idling is fine no misfires :D

Six-month-old oil is probably grotty enough to have an effect, so change that, then the thrash on the way to the test centre, should be enough I'd guess.
You don't need to go super fast, just maintain highish revs for a good while. Not being familiar with autoboxes, I don't know how easy that is to accomplish though. :-/

As easy as manually selecting a lower gear. ;)

I would question the mot station as the limits for CO are 0.3 on a cat test which should have been done as yours was over the bet test limits of 0.2.

If you can post the whole emission reports including all the numbers it would make diagnosis easier. :y

I agree with kevin need see report.
but a good long run and well serviced car should pass.
now for the bad news did an omega couple weeks ago same type of fault, fitted new lamda full servise and breathers it turned out to be a knackerd CAT fitted a 2nd hand one job done.

Also, of course, are there any codes stored in the ECU?
