Title: Oil leak turbo oil cooling

On my 2.2 dti theere are 2 pipes that emerge from the engine and go to the turbine. where they emerge there is oil all around there. how can i prevent this because it is also driping on the engine rubber support on that side? and as far as i can see the air conditioning compressor is a little dirty of oil but that is on the other side and i would like to know if there is a common cause that happens

I'm not to clued up on the 2.2dti but do the pipes go to the turbo(turbine) or the oil cooler.
The turbo pipes are normaly solid metal not rubber/flexi.
You could try replacing the O rings/copper washers or it could be a slack nut/pipe

they go to turbine directly... i thought they do it for cooling.. or lubrification.. i don't know if they have  washers or o ring thatswhy i am asking

hiya,
 these turbos do suffer from return oil pipe gasket, which is on the under body, you will need to undo the 2 torx bolts on the turbo plus the union at the other end where it meets the block, the gasket is only less than a £1, i`ve had 2 turbos and they both needed replacing

tx.. i'll go to the mechanic and replace them.. they spill oil on the engine support wich is from rubber and in a verry short time will wear it :)

at the garage after removing alternator and air filter box for more room the pipes going in  and out of the turbine are both clean and don't require a gasket change but the pipe going ut of the engine block is full of oil almost up to the turbine. i'll post a pic so it can be seen. i marked where it is covered in oil, also on the engine block where it comes out

that the return oil pipe from the turbo? it should be full of oil!! if its leaking at the ends then it just needs the ends sealing surely?

i don't see any seal where it neets the engine block.. that was the problem :(

I believe that's the oil feed to the turbo - loops around the CHS and goes in at the top via the banjo bolt.  The oil return is the flanged fitting on the left hand side of the picture that comes out of the bottom of the CHS.

Fittings look like they're probably some kind of taper pipe thread that should self seal as there's no dowty washer or similar shown.  If they don't self seal then you could try some PTFE (plumbers tape) - just be careful not to get any into the fitting itself as you don't want your turbo bearing housing ingesting that.

thank you for your help.. i will try to get new fittings of that threaded pipe if they are not too expensive and see if anything happens. if that doesn't work ill use ptfe but is that good at high temperatures??

Well.. I've done it before, but that's no guarantee it's the right thing to do  :-[

Another alternative would be a light smear of RTV sealant on the last few threads that engage in the fitting.. that's how my oil pressure sender is sealed on the MR2 as the tapping on the sandwich plate was not particularly accurate :)
