Title: Exhaust System
Post by: M Kerr on 01 October 2010, 20:49:26
Hello All,

Anyone able to suggest where I can buy a new exhaust system for a 2.5 petrol.  Everything from the downpipes back without getting a mortgage please? :P

CHeers Itonks,

You never know I suppose but it would need to be pretty good to go on my pride and joy.  As I understand there's a website you can get them from Deutchland for very reasonable money but I can't remember how to find the ...... thing. :y

Thanks Gents,

I've had a look at the site and the prices look sound!  It's a bit more difficult to see what I need though than I remember.  I thought there was a joint between the down pipes and cats.  As far as I see to get the cat you need to buy the down pipe as well!

I'll have to get under tomorrow whatever the weather's like.#

Thanks again!

Good link Kneepad.  Comes straight up but a little more expensive than Eternalcar.  I think I've got a "rattly cat" though.  That could blow the budget!!

I'm off to the pub to contemplate... :y

I doubt that you will need new cats. The downpipes & cats on my first Omega (1994 2.5 V6) were still fine after 200,000 miles (although the heat shields had disintegrated and fallen off  ::))

What you may need to do is drill out the fixing bolts when they shear off in the downpipe/cat flanges  >:(

That's what I like to hear Andy,

Mine's only done 70K so may be it's just the heat shields.  I'll be flat out in more ways than one tomorrow!

Cheers Mate :y

My heat shields made a rattling noise until they fell off. That fixed it  :y

Just to update:

I bought 2 central silencers and the back box from eternal car for 75 quid.  6 quid for new fittings and it cost me 24 to get it delivered.  It did take 7 days instead of 5 but I got it on OK and MOT'd it a few days after without any problems.

Thanks everyone for the usual first-class information.
