Title: random suggestions welcome!
Post by: tyreburner on 14 November 2010, 16:31:16
Hi guys and gals?
Long time since i been on here ( dont currently own a car as am driving coaches on tour so have no need for a car!)
BUT wor lasses s4 is off the road as some tosser pulled out into the side of us and caused her car to be written off as"uneconomical to repair"
Anyway we need a run around till she gets it fixed and i have found a 2.5 cdx for £300 but it is "running lumpy"??
Would like you guys to throw ideas of what it could be and cost if possible??
Thanks
Mick

HG on v6 is rare. Very rare. And its normally a coolant leak, rather than damaged firerings

It could also be oil or water in the plug wells causing it to miss and run lumpy ;)

The HG failing is really rare on the 2.5 V6.

Poor running could be the idle control valve (needs a good clean), HT leads (about £30 for a set but tricky to fit), DIS Pack (about £70 for Bosch OEM part from Ebay but again fiddly to fit), oil in the plug wells (caused by leaking cam cover gaskets).

Could just need a new set of spark plugs and an air filter or fuel filter.

Most problems with the Omega can be fixed on low budget as long as you provide the labour.
