Title: Crank sensor Made in Italy ?? any good
Post by: Big_Roger on 17 November 2010, 12:19:27
Hi,
Tried to get genuine from Vx but could only get by Friday, so ordered next day delivery from Autovaux.

Replacement crank sensor for my motor just arrived from Autovaux.

Has correct number on pack and invoice, looks correct, but is a no make version made in Italy.

Anyone used these??

Roger

Pattern sensors are hit and miss... It may be OK, it may last weeks, it may last years ::)

It'll get you out of a hole but I'd advise ordering a genuine one as a spare for if/when it fails :y

Hi All
Re previous post.
It was not my intention to appear disparaging about anything made in Italy, but merely that this was the only identifying feature on the sensor, and not branded Bosch or Siemens as expected.

If convenient, and I realise it's not in this case, I would be sending it back directly. Not genuine. If advertised as such and your aware then fine, but if genuine expected, if possible, I would not fit it.

Italy - you were lucky - everything I buy these days seems to be made in China - Italians have been making top quality electricals for years! :y

Indeed, MotoGuzzi, Laverda and Ducati electricals were infamous: with the quality of lego and as hydrophobic as a fox with rabies! ;D

There's nothing wrong with Alfa electrics. My mate's 1980 Alfasod had perfect electrics. Even the rev counter worked. When indicating left.

My Dad had two Alfasuds .. at least one from new - one ended up being sold with no rear roll bar because it fell apart, and the windscreen was held in with tongue depressors (he was a medic in the RAF ;D) and epoxy, and I seem to recall the paint peeled off the entire wing of the other one. Legendary build quality ;)
