As per the title really.
One of my rear brake calipers is seized, (2.6 facelift), and it seems that I cant find direct replacements from the scrappies for love nor money.
However, one local(ish) to me has two 2.2 Ecotecs and one 2.2DTi in. So does anyone know if the calipers from these are the same, (as in stamped with 42), as the bloke from the scrapyard can't / won't tell me if they are stamped.
Cheers.

If memory serves, the 2.6 and 3.2 have vented rear discs and thus slightly wider calipers, but happy to be corrected....

Yep, and the vented calipers have different piston diameter, so I'm told.

Have you tried a grease gun to get the piston moving? It worked on a caliper off my Mum's car.
Don't put your fingers in where the disc would normally live!!!! :o :o

Thanks chaps.
Went to the scrappies this morning, and although they had several omegas in, none were V6's. So to that end I can confirm what you have all been saying, and the 4 pots were on solid rear discs, of which the calipers are different. (I know you told me, but I thought it was worth a shot anyway).
I even had a look at a couple of Saab 9-5's, and although the calipers look very simular, they have a different stamp on them.
Cheers anyway chaps. :y

That's not right, nobody has said that. No idea about 4 pot cars, but all V6s had solid discs until the last few years of production .... 2000/2001? .... which is when they got vented discs. My 3.0 1999 has solid discs

the "42" is the piston size.
having a different size on one side to the other has not been proven to improve the braking in any way !
