Title: Normal Key to a Flip Key?
Post by: P6UL K on 29 November 2010, 20:04:58
Can it be done?

I have the old skool style 2 button key, which in the grand scheme of things is a pretty big key and it does like to dig itself in unwanted places!  Is it possible to programme a flip key to use in its place?

Cheers!

Not possible to programme one but Google for info about swapping the guts over to a flip case. But is it worth the effort?  ::) :y

Eh?! I'd have to disagree with that!

Thanks for the pointing out the not-so-obvious, but i was asking for advice on the issue.

The key body is larger and more bulky but it doesn't have the blade sticking out the end of it ;)

I have a flip key for my mig ;) It is bulkier in the pocket but I don't keep stabbing my leg with the blade. Martin Imber, a member here and a key guru, did the conversion on mine :y

Afaict it's a case(< ;D) of simply adjusting the size of the pcb to fit in the new flip key without damaging the circuitry and getting the buttons in the right place....? Not done it myself but might look into it. Getting tired of the blade stabbing me tbh.

I concur. It is something I will do once several people have buggered it up and written a HowNot2  ;D ;D ;D

Maybe its something I should do, I have plenty of spare fob bits.

Struggle to see the point myself, as said earlier, they are too big and bulky, but it seems people are after a guide...
