ICV (idle control valve) needs cleaning, or possibly crank sensor needs replacing. Paperclip test to read fault codes will tell you if you have a problem with the crank sensor.

thanks is there a guide for this

Yes, see the link at the bottom of my post ;)
It won't hurt to clean the IACV either :y

Mine's doing something similar, it idles roughly, dies occasionally after pulling away and then dipping clutch or nearly dies and then kicks up to 1500 rpm! I'll try the cleaning the ICV as well, only fault code I've got is 89. ::)

89 is the 02 sensor on the passenger side cats, open circuit.

It is indeed, and I've changed it, and it didn't go away, so then I changed the other one and it still hasn't gone away! >:(

It'll be a snagged wire further back in the loom, a real bu66er to find no doubt >:(

Without wishing to hijack the thread you could be right, although it is an intermittent light on the dash, not a constant burn, just comes on every now and again. It's been suggested the blowing gaskets I have could be to blame so I need to change them anyway and see!
Sorry for running off with your thread! :y :y
