Title: Leather seats

I need to change the the colour of of a pair of front seats from dark grey to black, what is the best dye to use and where would i get it from ?

I've seen this on the bay of E

Reading the link I would say No as it seems to me to be a  cleaner to bring the orginal  back not change the colour.

I phoned them up earlier and they said it is a dye but it's not suitable for upolstery, best used on horse tack etc.

I'm still looking for some suitable dye.

I would not recommend dying leather. Even by a professional. Perhaps a hand bag or a pair of shoes, yes. But not chairs. Why?
Because leather is not a breathable fabric and if it gets wet either by spills or sweat, the dye will rub off on your clothing.
The process the furniture manufacturers use to dye leather is not available to the general public.

my originals seats of the car are greenish with perforated leather and after a 5-600km trip in the summer i get paint on my clothes, this with the manufacturer die. imagine what will happen to yours.

Glyptone seems to the dye of choice in old car mags .... http://www.liquidleather.com/index.html

not that I've ever used it.  ;)

Woolies (http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk) also gets a good word  :y

might i suggest changing the rear seats to match? cheaper, less hassle and wont leave dye on your clothes, other option is to find replacement black fronts, both alot easier than faffing about with dye.

Couldn't find any Dark Grey heated leather seats for an estate at the time.

Thanks for the links AA, AndyB, GooseMan, the Woolies stuff looks like what i'm after  :y

In the mean time i've been talking to the people that run the local leather repair place in the town and they've been quite helpful. They recomended some stuff (Grison) to renovate the slight scuff marks for now but they're trying to find something suitable to alter the colour for me. I've got to go back tomorrow to see how they got on.
I'll show them the Gliptone stuff and the Woolies stuff and see what they reckon.

I dont think the Frost's dye will be any good on leather but i will contact them and see what they say.
