Title: LS400
Post by: STMO123 on 05 October 2006, 17:43:50
A while ago someome posted up a picture of a chavved up LS400. I said that I aspired to one if I could find a decent one I could afford.
But......now I've seen this I think it looks really dated compared to my omega :(. Disappointed.

Not my cup of tea - agreed it looks dated - like an early `90s Merc

But well we all have our carazee moments looking at other cars to replace the Omega....so you are forgiven  ;)

spent 15 minutes this morning deliberating over a Jag xj6 4litre Sport 1997.

Looked nice but the lack of info and a 0 rated seller and my MV6 love means naaaaaah !!

I know what you mean Markie. You know I've got a soft spot for the rover 600's but they dont compare that favourably with the omega( except in the vroom vroom dept). But all the cars I really used to fancy just dont do it for me anymore. Even a '97 Jag is starting to look dated ( and the service costs, I believe, are horrendous.
Basically, I am getting old, like to moan about things (including my meega), but will probably keep it forever. ;D

Paint looks a damn site better than on an Omega of a similar age, but at probably 10 times the price of a similar aged Omega I suppose it should be.

I'm not a great fan of silver cars, although I've a had a silver/grey (can't remember the name) Senator & a silver Manta years ago, the roads are full of silver cars.

What is the proper branding of this one?

Got the Camry and the Selstar - what about this one?

Big one Toyota Celsior - Selstar looks like a misread
Middle one Toyota Aristo
Small one Toyota Altezza (also Japanese Camry)

I have to replace my MV6 in about a year.

I'm eagerly keeping an eye on Monaro prices. I reckon by next year a 1st generation '04 plate LS1 powered one should be just about affordable!!  8-)

Check out the prices for the HSV Commodore, they dont appear often but when they do theyre around the 11K mark, plus you get the 4 doors  :)

Wheeler Dealers on Discovery (repeated Sunday night) bought a J plate LS400 for £1300!! I know what they spend in time and money is way off (£200 for a parrot bluetooth kit that is only £70), but at that price it still looked clean and engine wise was perfect.

2nd thoughts, cheap V8 donor car+ 1 no Omega, anyone follow where it could be haeding????

Am I not right in saying that's what's basically in them already? I'm sure I've heard/read that they're very tuneable, unlike the 400 V8's.

If I had that I wouldn't be swapping the engine. It's fantastic just the way it is. That mileage seems a bit iffy though.
