Guys
bought some super dooper bulbs from Halfords about 5 years ago, either i`m getting old or they don't seem at all bright anymore, i can hardly see the damn road at night, when i put full main beam on, knowbody flashes me.... do bulbs wear out?
ive checked from the front of the car and no bulbs have gone... they are just very very poor brightness
thoughts?

state of the lenses?

lenses are fine buddy, excellent condition

I think they do wear out. I've just had a xenon go after 13 years of faithful service.
I have just sent off for some Osram Nightbreakers off The Bay for about £15 inc postage. Worth changing them for that.
Of course it could be you! As we get older our eyes get cra**er. ;D ;D

Lack of output is usually the sign you have a poor earth connection. Check the earths on the car and see if that helps.

could be carbon in the reflecter if its them, the round dip light.

Anyone know which nightbreakers are the best ones to go for ?
Nightbreaker/nightbreaker+/h4/h7 etc.
Also, I presume these are for main meam? :-/

At 5 years old they will be past their best.
All incandescent bulbs have a trade-off between brightness and the rate at which the tungsten filament degrades and deposits onto the glass envelope (reducing light output can causing it to run hotter).
Brighter bulbs may be brighter when new but they will degrade quicker.
Unless the filament is visibly dim indicating a low voltage due to perhaps resistance in the feed circuit, as said, or the lens is dirty I would suggest trying some new bulbs.
