Standard price is £39.20 +p&p so possibly £39.19 or less? :)

The anti-roll-bar are included in this kit. What's the price if we buy all together?
-
Just been told that you need a ten-ton press to fit some of these. Presumably in the wishbones.
Can someone clarify / dispel this for me? thanks.

POWERFLEX bushes are designed, in general, to be fitted by hand by a home mechanic with no special tools. However it is not always possible to remove the old bushes without some hand tools. The following tips will help you to remove the old bushes if they are not simply a push out bush.
http://www.powerflex.co.uk/fitting_guides.php
-
Thanks Dany, Didnt mean to sound thick or worst like i wasnt trusting you all when you said 'no specialist tools required' but he was adamant you needed a ten ton press to get the old ones out / new bushes in.
I may be in for some of these, then. Now, where's my piggy bank......?
-
If you wanted to get the old bushes out intact, you'd need a press.. but you don't - so you tear the rubber inner out with a prying tool and then hacksaw a slot through the metal outer (without cutting through the wishbone! ;D ) and it just drops out with gentle persuasion..
New poly bushes, IIRC, then just drop straight in as two halves.
-
i'm sure there's going to be a how to posted once these are delivered!! ;)
-
Maybe a daft question, but how many bushes are there to each wishbone,is it one or two. :-/
-
i'm sure there's going to be a how to posted once these are delivered!! ;)
Seeing as you're in Austria, can't you just pop up the road to Magna-Steyr and rob some bushes from there?? Pretty sure the fence is shorter round the back ;)
-
Two bushes for each wishbone, one in the horizontal and one in the vertical plane IIRC - the powerflex bushes only replace the front (vertical plane) bushes rather than the horizontal (as poly would be too hard for the rear bush) - but from all reports it looks like the front bush that fails constantly, not the rear..
-
ah, thats answered another question of mine, as couldnt understand why they didnt make polys for all the wishbone. ta
-
Unfortunately the only thing you could realistically replace the rear horizontal bush with would be a very large press-in spherical bearing.. which wouldn't be a good idea for a number of reasons :)
-

Spherical? Sounds like balls to me.
-
Does anyone know how much the other standard bushes are we need then, assuming we need to change em. :)
-
i'm sure there's going to be a how to posted once these are delivered!! ;)
There is...............sort of.
"Turk" did a video on how to repace the bushes - I think it's on photobucket but can't find the link - sure somebody will have a link to it.
-

Seen some on ebay around the £10 mark but you would have to have access to a press to get the buggers in.
-
Personally I was planning on picking up a set of Lemforder arms and then re-bushing the front bushes before putting them on..
-
Anyone know when Petes back?
-

I tried the prying approach but nut surprisingly the rubber was damn hard, and without removing the wishbone fully from the car leverage was limited and it was a recipe for skinned knuckles. I took a cordless drill to it with something like a 6-7mm bit and just jiggled it about to muller as much of the rubber as I could get too, then used a hacksaw blade upside down in the frame (passed through the bush) make a cut in the shell before popping it free.
I think Turk used a blowtorch on the rubber - perhaps he has not got my oil leaks ;)
New ones are indeed made of two poly halves and a steel centre bush that all slide together in a very satisfying way
using the all important magic grease supplied.

Do we know what the actual price is likely to be yet? If someone could at least say 'No more than xxx' that'll do as a ballpark. I know thats likely to come down depending on the size of bulk order.

Took the liberty of making a quick phone call to the uk importer directly on the off chance, not helpful, all they said was all sales should go through their retail outlets and any bulk deals should be arranged through them and them alone, their recommendation was eurocarparts, which did not fill me with confidence.
But on the other hand their retail outlets are there for a reason... ::)
-
Shouldnt worry. If you dont ask, you dont get! Thanks for trying. 8-)

And I have a fly press that should be able to hammer the old ones out if anyone's having trouble in the Leeds area...
you need 10 tons plus :y
It's rated as six tonne. but I'll be doing the swinging. :y

I made a quick phone call to Powerflex early Monday morning but they told me I had to get intouch with one of their retailers but I didn't have time as I was off to Bulgaria for a week so i'll start making the calls tomorrow morning ;)

I know he was, but he's been back since the 31st. And saying you may be interested is no good. To get a price we need people on the list who are definitely wanting some.
-
Getting a bit unfriendly this....
My Thoughts....
There are currently about 40 people on the list
as this list has grown consitantly over a few weeks, I feel it has not dragged on, it still at the 'guaging interest' stage.
This puts us in a good starting position to go to retailers with, currently 40 odd....maybe more, what can you do etc? Maybe get prices for an order of 40, 50, 60 etc.
We can then hopefully publish the volume pricing available, and all on the list, and newcomers can then put forward a definate intention to buy. May well be a few people holding back till firm info available.
Then the tricky bit of collating the funds, placing the order, and delivering the goods.
This sort of thing shouldnt be rushed imho, and if you are desperate for the bushes, probably best to jump the gun and buy individually, the time savings could probably pay for tyre damage caused by waiting.
-
Im with much of what jimbob says on this.
I would be interested at the right price, and thats just it, I dont want to add myself to the list, and then muck around fellow oofers by cancelling my 'order', Im not like that.
So I'm sure there are other people who would be interested in a set, but just don't want to put it down in black n white.
No one seems to be able to give an idea of what final price were talking, am I wrong?
Someone offered me an Omega (watch I might add) but couldnt get out what figure they wanted. Well, I said, I'm sorry, but I cant help, if you want 100quid, Id be interested, if you're wanting 1,000pound, cant help. Without a ballpark figure I just could really do anything for the guy. I need at least a rough price. :-/

£39.20 on ebay, so cheaper than that I would have thought.

Riight, so thats atleast a starting figure. Look forward to a further discount on that, then. Thanks!

Sorry to go "off topic" ... but that is an extremely selfish and rude attitude. You obviously want "someone" to spend their time working for your benefit ... and you want them to do it to your timescale !!
If you are in that much of a rush .. get off your arse and do some work yourself.
IMHO EP is very deserving of his holiday .. and even if he wasn't ... it is his choice .. not yours.
If I was trying to organise these things .. coments like yours would be far more likely to make me say "stuff it" rather than continue.

Right, cheapest I have up to now is £32 for a set of wishbone bushes ie 2 front bushes and £24 for a set of anti roll bar bushes, thats delivered to me so there will be a little bit of postage to add from me to you. I'm still waiting on a few more prices yet ;)
-
Balance motorsport got back to me. This was the reply.
HI David
There is just one Bush for that application
Front Wishbone Front Bush 2 PFF80-902
Ex. VAT: £20.85
Inc. VAT: £24.50
so each pair retails at £49
40 sets £49 = £1960 inc vat retail
25% off = £1470 inc vat
thanks
Julian
I'm going to get back to him to try and get more off....

I'll email it you but I wouldn't tell them as it might get our supplier in the do do and he might not supply us but Eurocarparts quoted £34 to start with ;)

I emailed balance motorsport again to ask if they could beat £32 and got this.
sorry no it's an insane quote whoever it is is devaluing the product by selling at cost price. Either they are dodgy, desparate or simply not able to use a calculator ! :-)
thanks for emailing but when you start talking about making 0% margin clearly as a business we cannot survive on no profit at all!
thanks

Rightyo, i've just had a call off Eurocarparts in Chester and negotiated a price of £31.54 for a set of 2 front wishbone bushes and £23.44 for the two anti roll bar bushes. It will take between 2 to 4 weeks to make the bushes and they need paying for in advance because they are made to order. I'm willing to go to Chester to collect the bushes and post them out but there will be a small charge for jiffy bags and postage but this will be at whatever it costs me. So there you have it ;)

Thats great Pete. Doing alot of work around Holmes Chapel and Congleton at the moment so could always drop it in to you when your ready :y

Just had a quick chat with Powerflex and if there was a similar size order ie 40 ish they would be willing to develope a rear front wishbone bush but it wouldn't be until Jan to Feb next year due to a fire at the factory.

That sounds like a fair option, but wonder if the fitting of the rear bush and the front would make it a bit too firm?

He did say they have problems with them tearing but they developed one last year that has a ball in it :-?

I'd be up for rear bushes too, almost certainly. Just because I'm like that ;)

very interesting, the factory showing interest directly for one thing, now we have an idea of numbers, and as said, looking at the rear bush seems odd at this stage, but very welcome if possible i must say.
The main pita as it stands is currently, obviously, having a wishbone, or two, with both bushes failed. What do you do? Fit new lemforders and fit the front polly to that? expensive. Fit lemforders and wait for the front to fail? then hope the rear bush is still in good enough nic? or press merle(?) heavy duty bushes to the rearward bush straight off with poly at the front? does the rear bush take any less effort to press in? i guess removal can be done the same as the front with a hacksaw?
still leaves pressing in though as we know....so best option is fit both as poly, presuming the cut out and fit by hand procedure applies to both??? the rearward bush will mean the wishbone needs to be removed for access but thats doable...
but question still remains, before we dive in, is the ride acceptable with one or both bushes as polly?.....
a “polly bushes experiences” thread perhaps???
plus i have a pair of old wishbones here if they need sending off to polyflex and fitting, as i am sure a few of us do have old spairs anyway ?
....also...mite be a bit of a nusance if somebody pipes up they are “too firm” then nobody wants them!
so early days in the process perhaps? got two cars here that need bushes sorting somehow. But i dont think there will be a full and proper solution until the rearward bush is available too.
-
He did say they have problems with them tearing but they developed one last year that has a ball in it :-?
Ok. :y
I'm guessing the socket for this ball will have to be a F.T. fit into the wishbone, so press required.
But i dont think there will be a full and proper solution until the rearward bush is available too.
Not so sure. It is the front ones that are the most troublesome. Rear ones were fine on mine, IIRC.

Fit new lemforders and fit the front polly to that? expensive.
That was my plan - mostly because I'd rather only do the job once but spend a little more at the time..
Poly for both would be great, if fitting was still a DIY proposition.
-
I was given a set of genuine rear bushes for the front wishbones by my local dealer and I was going to fit poly bushes in the front.

Poly for both would be great, if fitting was still a DIY proposition.
Indeed, although I wonder how much room will be left for compliant material once a ball joint is moulded(?) in?
-
Thanks to EP for all his work, but this has not been worth it IMHO. I'll be ordering mine tonight. Ok I'll be spending about £7 more but to be honest I couldnt care less.
Just my opinion nowt else... :y

it seems that you can please some people all of the time ............ etc etc ::) ::) ::)

I'm paying £39.20 including postage, so once you've paid Pete for the postage and packing there will be sod all difference. :y

Look forward to your feedback Dave. :y

Yes no problem, I'll let you know :y

Rightyo, i've just had a call off Eurocarparts in Chester and negotiated a price of £31.54 for a set of 2 front wishbone bushes and £23.44 for the two anti roll bar bushes. It will take between 2 to 4 weeks to make the bushes and they need paying for in advance because they are made to order. I'm willing to go to Chester to collect the bushes and post them out but there will be a small charge for jiffy bags and postage but this will be at whatever it costs me. So there you have it
Thanks for your efforts guys. :y :y :y
Just to confirm, do these prices include vat? If so that's 1/3 off which is a pretty good discount in my book. :y
Also had a look at powerflex website and see that it lists the arb bush as 26mm. Does anyone know if these are suitable for my mig: ex plod estate with LSC? :-/
Will have a set of wishbone bushes pls. and also arb ones if suitable. pm with payment requiremens, ta. :y
P.S. is it actually possible to firm up a wallowy barge too much, or will all the elite drivers suddenly realise the true potential of their cars? :D

I'd be interested in non "wishbone front bushes"

My Powerflex wishbone bushes arrived this morning. I ordered them from mjd128 on ebay at 9:15pm on the 4th October. £39.20 including postage. I'm going to fit them at the weekend.
-
would these bushes just replace the ones already on my car? front and back? and assuming if they do this would just be wishbones and not anything like track rod and what ever else has bushes i will probably have to replace very soon, sorry if this is a thick question but unsure of what else has been said in this thread as only really skimmed over it
-
These are only the front wishbone bushes.
Rears are not available.
Option also to purchase anti roll bar bushes. :y
-
this could be a slightly cheaper option for me at the moment. I dont think my rears need any attention but i wont hold my breath. How do i order a set of these?

Here is what is included in the set (wife not included ;D) ;D

It will be a 2 to 4 week wait anyway. I'm more than happy to order these but as Dave says once i've bought jiffy bags and posted them out there's going to be little difference in the prices.

OK mate :y :y

Fitted mine on saturday. It was a doddle. And sharpened up the steering nicely.

How easy/hard was it to remove the old bushes ?

The old bushes came out very easily. The rubber part came out with the use of a blow torch. I then hacksawed out the metal sleeves. Fitting the Powerflex items was excruciatingly easy.

Cheers for that Dave, one last question, did you have to tighten up the wishbones with the car on the floor with the powerflex items ( considering there in two halves ).

How feasible is it to do the final torqueing up with no pit, ramps or DLK powers of levitation? I'm assuming trolley jack and axle stands are no help here. :question

Tighten them up with the car on its wheels and then jack it up to torque the bolts :y
-

I'm pretty sure you can torque up the poly bushes by just using jack + stands.
There's no rubber to 'deform' when your torquing up so no need to do it with wheels on the ground. 8-)
-
Torque up 'on the deck' or with wheels suspended, it makes no difference. Poly-bushes are not bonded in like rubber bushes, in fact quite the opposite, as a smear of copper grease is applied before sliding them in.
For those that fancy a spot of DIY, this is the video I made as a rough guide.

I'm happy for you to hang on to ours as we will be asking you to fit them anyway. ::) :y
When do you want paid for the bushes & how? Paypal?

my thought's too, coupled with the fact there in two halfs :)

Sorry if this is a stupid question but there is two bushes on each wishbone so do you get both bushes for each wishbone in the kit or just one replacement bush? :y

Just one bush for each wishbone included in the kit; the rearmost of the two bushes on the wishbone is in the wrong 'plane' to be easily replaced by polyurethane, so there isn't one available (yet)
-
Thanks for the advice.
OK, what I’m getting out of this is, in the absence of pit or ramps:
Conventional rubber bushes – install finger tight on stands, lower the car onto its wheels, nip ‘em up tight enough that they don’t move when the car is jacked up, torque up on stands.
Poly bushes – torque up whatever way is easiest because they are effectively greased bearings anyway.
Close-ish? :)
-
Anymore news on this pete. ;)

Yep, if the rearward bush is fine, fit Polly to your existing, no need to remove the wishbone even.

Yep, hole cutter, hammer and wood chisel, drill, burner, what ever you have. All that's important at that stage is making room for a hack saw to cut through the bush outer, but not the wishbone metal itself obviosly.
See Turks video.

So has anyone actually successfully fitted a set of these bushes yet, and what is the final result? Has it stopped the inherant "Tramlining" and general wandering about all over the road >:(. I have sensed great exitement over the bushes, so just wondering if they have lived up to expectations ::)
-
I really don't think the tram lining will disappear completely, ESP as the tyres wear. :-?
