Title: code 59
Post by: Kneepad on 02 December 2010, 22:32:19
59   Intake Manifold Valve 1 Voltage Low

This is only error code I have still to clear on the v6, after a bit of searching I came across some posts referring to this problem but could find none that reported a successful conclusion.

The solenoid plug is plugged in.

Am I looking at removing the manifold valve and cleaning or is it more likely a problem with the solenoid valve?

Swap actual solenoid with SAI one (if fitted), or front one, clear codes, see if fault moves...

How was you reading code - real tech2, cheapo reader, or paperclip (there are multiple 59's, only real tech2 tends to give accurate error)

Thanks TB, code read with a cheap "My Naff Code Reader", fairly isolated here so no access to a Tech2. I will try paperclip test and see if it still shows. Never thought to swap solenoid with front one.  :y

"My Naff Code Reader" (never sold in the UK, so probably an illegal chinese clone) doesn't accurately differentiate between all the 59s, but has pointed you that that is where the issue lies :y.  And at least it can clear the codes, so you can see stright away where the fault moves :y

Yes bought "My Naff Code Reader" from ebay. Made an effort to avoid the chinese ones. So bought from a seller in Ireland with lots of Union Jacks on his ad and double the price of the clones.  :D

Must've seen me coming, it was a clone.  >:(

Anyway, paperclip test confirmed the code 59 so I'll swap the solenoids over at the weekend.

In the UK, unless its called Vauxcom, was bought from UKOBD, and cost around £600, its an illegal clone.

Just an update on this. Turned out the solenoid plug was not pushed fully home on Intake Manifold Valve 1.
Deed done. code cleared and so far hasn't retuned.

Many thanks
