Title: Lumpy running 4 pot!!!
Post by: Vamps on 15 December 2010, 21:20:59
Typical, just thinking how smooth the car was going following a run to Sunderland, got home and about to put the car in reverse and it is running lumpy :( :(

Took it for a quick run, eml light on drives OK with a few revs so guessing crank or cam sensor, any thoughts..... :-?

Will it rev past 4500 RPM?

Yes, I think so, limp mode not on as far as I can tell....

If it revs past 4500 then it's unlikely to be the cam sensor. Sometimes the early failure mode is that it's fine until the engine is up to operating temp.

Might be a trip to see Philrich then and get his code reader out..... :D :D

I have had Mig's with similar faults over the years and often been the cam or crank sensor...... only needed 1 dis pack on a 2.0L but still needed a cam sensor  car has only done 60k and was running like a dream.. :( :(

Didn't you get your faulty code reader replaced then Mike? If not I can give it the once over with mine when you're next nearby? In the meantime, try unplugging the MAF & see if there is any difference with it off line. :-/

Code Reader only on a 2.2 :y

More likely to be a cam sensor than a crank sensor on a four pot :)
