...im geting clutch drag...

Is that the clutch slipping or hard to get into gear?
It's gotta be worth trying to bleed or adjust (assuming hydraulic but maybe mechanical?) the pedal before condemning the clutch...

Hi Ajay,

A bit more information on your symptoms is required to confirm your diagnosis, but in order to answer your question, a clutch change is not difficult, requires no specialist kit, and can be done by a competent DIY home mechanic.

I've written a guide that describes the process, and it's available to view at:

Kind regards,
James

How high up is the biting point on the clutch pedal? It should be a little under the halfway point. Any rattles with your foot off the clutch pedal when in neutral and the engine running? Any difference in noises between starting the car with your foot down on the clutch and starting it without your foot on the clutch?

If it's dragging, also worth investigating the hydraulic circuit. Give it a few pumps of the pedal, engage first and keep the pedal down. Does it start to drag after a while?

Might also be worth bleeding it?

Regarding juddering, is this as you are pulling away or when driving in-gear with the clutch released?

do you know when the gear box oil was changed as had this type of problem last year and it was the oil gone week, changed the oil and it was fine, gears moved fine again and no drag. :)

i know i do have a problem with the gearbox oil, the seal on top of the gearbox is worn out bcoz its spiting out with gearbox oil , but i do keep this topd up.

kevin - after while driving my car as i pull away frm the lights and release my clutch in 1st gear the whole front of the car vibrates badly, and its better to wheel spin off.

welung666- my biting point fine, no rattles, i do start my
car up with the clutch down coz its easier to turn ova i think.
but today ive notice when i drive at low revs at 35mph i can feel a vibration if i floor it its fine, but soon as cruise its back again lol

If it's juddery just as you pull away, as you describe, then the clutch is probably worn or contaminated so it would be worth changing it, IMHO. Make a careful check for oil or other fluids leaking onto the clutch while you're at it though. Maybe the gearbox oil is getting on the clutch?
