x2 Cat Efficiency codes & a Misc one - Can you help please?
Can anyone advise me on what the problems are?.
My 3.2 mig has flashed up x3 codes on my reader.
P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)
P0430 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)
U2108 CAN-BUS no Communication with ABS/TC
Am I correct in thinking that first two codes are to do with the Lamba o/2 sensors are on the way out (or had it) on the passenger side of the exhaust?.
I don't want to go buying anything, taking anything off and till I have a better idea of what the codes actually mean?. :-?
The last one is a bit of a puzzle, as when checking the codes on the transmission side while I was at it, came up with the U2108 code (showing as 'other'), but when looking the codes up on here it seems it's to do with the ABS/TC?.
The TC switch isn't fitted at the moment, as the original plug has been cut, and there were two bullet connectors on the switch at some point, but as there short I've got to lengthen them and plug onto the correct connectors of the switch at some point!.
If it is possibly the Lamba o/2 sensors, anyone recommend somewhere I can get replacements without paying a fortune for them.
Thanks.

Sorry not sure if for your meg but when sourcing in ebay vauxhall omega, came across a few lambda sensors. Can't remeber if any seen for yours, but it cost nothing to have look see. ;)

Mike, the lambdas are fine. The 0420 and 0430 are the first sign that the pre-cats are failing. Easy enough to move the lambdas back on the pipe as in the HowTo I did last year :y
CANBUS code I wouldn't worry about as the ABS/TC isn't CANBUS controlled on the migs ;)

Ohh crap.... :(
Do you know how much would I expect to pay for pair of these Lee and where would the best place to get them from?.
Might of know it would happen now as insurance due on the 2.2 soon >:(

About £30 fitted from me ;D ;D The cats are fine Mike, they just need fooling into not putting the light on ;)

Whilst I wouldn't worry about the code if it doesn't come back, I can assure you the engine/box/abs all have a little chit-chat on a canbus ;)

Okay, now a bit confused. May seem thick here, but if they're okay, why are they fooling the sensors to show a problem?. Is it the insides are collapsing like silencers do?.
So I take it with the quote you happen to have a pair lying about ::) ;) ;D .

They'd be a lot more than that if I was supplying cats ;) Have a read of this....

All will become clear :y

The starting cats fail quickly. But these aren't measured for MOT. The main cats are likely fine, so moving the sensors cures the (non existent) problem...

Right, now I understand.
I'll take a rummage through the 'parts' section to see if anyone has a pair 1st.
I'm on a bit of a budget here at the moment Lee, just spent a bit getting some bits for a project I'm soon undertaking. This problem was a bit of a surprise to me today. I'll have to get back to you when I've got a set, modified them, then will ask nicely if you can help me fit them onto the car if that's okay with you?. :y

You dont need replacements. In fact, 2nd hand replacements will have same issue (and pattern are shite).
It just needs the rear sensors moved behind main cats :y
-
Wait until you're better off Mike, if there isn't a rush to do them then don't. Just keep resetting the light and I'll sort it come MOT time or when you're a little more flush :y

Was thinking getting 2nd hand, modifying them, then the time spent under the car is just a case of whip off the duff one, replace with the modded one, job done. Especially when you have to have help from someone who can get under the car easier. :y

Its only a half hour job either side so its not to bad ;)

Depends on how many cups of tea/coffee the one doing the job has I expect Pete ;D ;D.
By the way I haven't forgotten about the boot :y

And bacon butties ;)
Don't worry about the boot, i'm starting to strip it tomorrow so i've got the unit for a week so there's no rush ;)
