Title: omega 2.6 v6 auto, tc light

A very happy new year to all,  was driving the omega yesterday and all of a sudden when i moved off a traffic light the auto box refused to go into 2nd gear and the rev went up to 4 and there was a jerk, the tc light came on and the car sort of went into limp mode. Oh and the light on the gearbox went off too.
Any ideas as to what this means?

Could be a number of things. What other dash lights came on? EML? ABS? Gearbox warning on MID?
