Title: how can you test
Post by: griff2494 on 02 January 2011, 09:59:41
hi there

all  the probs with the mis fire on my 2.2 seem to be pionting to either a breaking down coil pack or a dodgy cam sensor

is there anyway to test either of the above to see if there working propley?

ive tried the earthing of the spark plugs, all plugs fired nice and blue but i think if coilpack it only happens once warm or under load

as for cam sensor i have no idea, the code reader just pops up the fault of misfire in number 3

have you changed plug to another pot and see if fault moves from 3  :-?

Why cam sensor? If there is no cs code.

Change plugs, ESP on pot 3, and see if symptoms persist....  Or swap plug 3 to another pot and see if the fault follows the plug, maybe? If the fault stays on pot 3 change cp....?

hi again

i put brand new plugs in last week, there was also no water or oil in any of the wells

when i first got the car the last plug (under bulkhead)was oiled up,i cleaned the well out ,changed the cam cover gasket which seems to have stopped that but the coilpack rubbers had oil on them,i cleaned them as best as i can but i must admit there very soft if that would make a dif?

as for cam sensor someone put in a thread i posted before that it could well be a prob with that? thats why i was woundering if theres a way to test it ie oms test etc?

is the fuel getting to the piston, check that the injector is working and not blocked, take plugs out and get some one to turn engine should smell the fuel in each pot.

According to info posted on here, vx do replacement rubber boots for the 4 pot coil PAC. No experience of the omega 1/3 missing engine personally.  ;)

ok will try that thanks :-)
i was only thinking it was the coilpack maybe as when car is cold or not under load it ticks over/drives ok but once engine has warmed up the misfire starts

i used to have a renault the did this and it turned out that it was a coil pack that was breaking down ,and only did it once the coilpack was warm

Initial reaction, as plugs have been changed, is its the coil pack...
