The omega's having some running issues when it gets hot.
It'll start fine when its cold, First time. No problems what so ever.
But when it gets hot it will sometimes cut out, Or when you switch it off (Nipping into shop's etc) for the minimal amount of time, When you come out sometimes it won't start, Until it goes cold.
RAC have been called out numerous times, With nothing found, But the first two times they stuck some sort of tool onto the end of the spark plug and on the coil and cranked it, And it started but apparently the tool is just to check for a spark? And then more recently (New year eve) we were on the way to a friends (about 1hr away) but about 1/2 of the journey we stopped for fuel, but left the car running knowing that if it was turned off it wouldn't start, But for some reason the car died by itself, And wouldn't start, So we pushed it out the fuel station and parked it, to ring the RAC, They came and tried to get info via diagnosis machine, But couldn't connect up to the car. So he tried to start it...First crank it fired up. About 1.5hrs after dieing....So we decided to carry to visit our friends, We got there fine, But as we went to leave the car wouldn't start, But luckily we were in two cars so the other car towed us, down the motorway (Not strictly correct but we had no choice.) Whilst being towed my dad tried bumping it, And on the second time it started, So we pulled over and disconnected tow line, And drove back fine.
Its previously been into a garage recommended by the RAC bloke, They had the car for 2 days. Stopping and starting without fault.
This needs sorting ASAP, Have you lot had anything similar? Or know anything?

First thing to do is read the fault codes from the ECU. Click on the link to the paperclip/pedal test below this reply then post back any codes flashed out :y
A jammie dodger on the crank sensor ;)

Yeah i can see where your coming from with the crank sensor But... The crank sensor isn't a moving part, So its a case of working or not working?
Just about to look at the paper/pedal thing now. :y

You are right it's not a moving part but it's an engine critical part. It is the way the wire was routed originally that overheats it from the downpipes and causes the wires to break down. The HowTo on here shows the best way to route the wire to prevent it happening again :y

I'm with Welung on this but as he says do the paper clip test ;)
-
Just spoke to my dad, He said it originally started as a Mis-fire, So he took it into the garage where they fitted a new coil pack and Crank sensor...But after these were fitted the problem of starting etc arose.
-
It needs to be a genuine crank sensor from Vauxhall but as said earlier do the paperclip test ;)

You're only after a jammie dodger ;D ;D

Can you not do this in my thread please guys? I've got notifications on, And every time you post it lets me know, So i come and find all this..
Anyway, Just letting you lot know that its been booked into the garage and is going in Monday for the week, And there head technician is going to run it to see if it faults on him. Originally i was going to look at it, But work won't let me use a ramp and its too much hassle logging my tools home.
Cheers :y

I dont know a great deal about these engines, but i had a Cavalier with the ecowreck engine in that did this. It was the camshaft sensor, i replaced it with a non GM sensor and the problem went away for about a week then returned. I swapped it for a GM sensor and the problem went away permanently.
I think your best option at this stage is to get it on a decent diagnostics machine otherwise your just pissing in the wind.

The garage its going to, is apparently one of the best round here,
But I've got access to a snap on diagnosis machine, And help from a ex-vauxhall technician ...So if they can't fix it this time, i'l have a look. :)

definitely the way tgo. Get right kit on it together with people who know how to use it :y

had a similar problem on the girlfriends clit, car was fine till hot, then would cut out, and crank over but not start, turned out to be the coolant temp sensor.
